Create a beautiful, unique Christmas wreath. Your whole family will enjoy making and displaying these handmade holiday decorations.
1.
To begin your wreath, collect 20 clean, recycled plastic containers.
2.
Assemble the back of the wreath. Ask an adult to use pointed Crayola® Scissors to punch holes in the recycled plastic containers. The holes should be just above the open edge in the center of the wider sides.
3.
Push a metallic chenille stem through the holes in each red cup, beginning on the outside of the container, going through it, and ending up on the other outside edge.
4.
Place a bell on the chenille stem. Then push the stem through container. Continue this process, alternating colors and placing a bell between each container, until you have placed all 10 containers on chenille stems. (When a chenille stem is nearly full,
5.
Assemble the top layer. Ask an adult to cut the corners away from one of the short sides of each container, leaving a small triangle in the center of that small side. This will enable you to make a smaller, tighter circle of cups to place on top of your first row. Ask an adult to punch holes in the long sides of the containers, just like the first ring.
6.
Push your chenille stems through the cups, alternating colors, without any bells between them. When you finish, twist the ends of the chenille stems together tightly.
7.
Assemble the wreath. Set your second, smaller ring on top of the first, larger ring. Place red containers on top of green ones.
8.
Thread 10 chenille stems between containers in the top ring and around the bell sections in the lower ring to hold the rings together. Twist until the wreath is secure.
9.
Place clean paper on your craft table. Turn the wreath so the open ends of the cups face up. Roll a thick snake from white Crayola Model Magic. Gently push the snake on the back of the cups, making a complete circle. Air-dry the wreath overnight.
10.
Decorate the wreath. Craft white Model Magic bows. Sculpt red and green Model Magic ornaments. Use Crayola Gel Markers to make shadows on the ornaments. Create highlights with small white Model Magic dots.
11.
Use Crayola School Glue to attach bows and ornaments. Add sparkles to your wreath with Crayola Glitter Glue. Air-dry your wreath.
12.
Attach another chenille stem to create a hanger for your wreath. Enjoy your colorful craft!
