Peacock Pencils

Peacock Pencils craft

Jazz up a pencil to give as a Mother’s Day gift, a present for a favorite teacher, or a fun party craft you can do with friends! It all starts with your Crayola Marker designs.

  • 1.

Design paper with your favorite Crayola crayons, markers or colored pencils. Try Crayola Pip-Squeaks Markers!

  • 2.

Cut long triangles from the designed paper. The width of the bottom of the triangle will be the width of your bead. Make the width of your bead about 3 inches wide. TIP: To make several triangles at once, fold the paper and cut through all of the layers.

  • 3.

Place the triangle - color side down - on the table. Position a colored pencil over the wide edge. Roll the paper around the pencil. Continue rolling until most of the triangle is rolled around the pencil.

  • 4.

When just an inch or two of the triangle is left to roll, put some glue on the tip and smooth into place. Finish rolling the rest of the triangle around the pencil. TIP: If some of the glue squeezes out you can spread it around the bead for an extra shine.

  • 5.

Carefully pull the bead off of the pencil. Make 5 beads in all.

  • 6.

Twist three chenille sticks together at the centers of the wires.

  • 7.

Slide 1 bead each onto 5 of the chenille stick ends. Bend to keep beads in place. TIP: You can also spiral the wire ends into shapes with your fingers!

  • 8.

Wrap the remaining chenille stick end around the pencil top to keep everything in place.
