    Whenever an art project is done with children ages 3 and younger, close adult supervision is required to ensure safety. An adult or older child cuts the circles for Counter Cups for 3-year-olds, or use colorful paper muffin cups. This activity is only sui

    Children eagerly make games that challenge them just enough. They practice cutting skills (4 and older), then learn one-to-one correspondence as they count the correct number of items in this game.

  • 3.

    Recycled marker caps make great counting objects. Milk carton tops, game chips, or counting bears can also be used.

  • 4.

    With a Crayola® Washable Marker on white construction paper, make six circles the same size as the bottom of a muffin cup.

  • 5.

    If you are 4 or older, cut out the circles with Crayola® Scissors. An adult cuts them out for children 3 and younger.

  • 6.

    With Crayola® MiniStampers, make one or more stamps on each circle. Stamp a different number of pictures on each circle. Arrange designs like dots on a die, or invent your own patterns.

  • 7.

    Place one circle inside each cup of a muffin tin.

  • 8.

    Count the number of stamped designs in each tray. Count out the same number of marker caps and put them in the cup. After you do this several times, can you pick the right number without counting first?
