Edwin Binney (1866-1934), born in Shrub Oak, New York, and C. Harold Smith (1860-1931), born in London, England, founded Binney & Smith in 1885. Binney & Smith was then incorporated in 1902. In 2007, the company name Binney & Smith was changed to Crayola.
