Matching Boards

Matching Boards lesson plan

  • 1.

Encourage children to find many different objects, so each child's Matching Board is different.

  • 2.

Demonstrate how, or help children, to measure and mark straight lines.

  • 4.

With a ruler, measure a large rectangle, at least 12 by 18 inches, on poster board or recycled cardboard.

  • 5.

With Crayola® Scissors, cut out the rectangle.

  • 6.

Choose five or six favorite objects that will fit on the poster board. Arrange them in a pleasing way.

  • 7.

Ask a friend to hold each item as you trace around it with Crayola® Washable Markers. Put the items in a box.

  • 8.

Exchange Matching Boards with friends, and match the items with their outlines.
