Kiribati is a group of islands located on the equator in the Pacific Ocean. It includes the Gilbert, Phoenix and Line Islands. The Phoenix and Line Islands are on the other side of the International Date Line, which puts them a day behind the Gilbert Islands. The country proclaimed that all three island groups in the nation will have the same official time, despite the Date Line.
