Cookie Creations

Cookie Creations lesson plan

Measurement and cooking meet creativity with these illustrated recipes for cookies.

  • 1.

Read several recipes for cookies, baked or unbaked. Compare ingredients. Make different versions of the same cookie. Find out how ingredients affect cookie taste, texture, and shape.

  • 2.

Imagine what your favorite cookie recipe might contain. On a large index card (dictated on story paper for younger children and special needs students), print the name of your cookie recipe with Crayola® Colored Pencils. List ingredients and their amounts to create exactly the kind of cookie you want.

  • 3.

Draw a picture of each ingredient next to the list with Crayola Crayons, Multicultural Crayons, and Colored Pencils.

  • 4.

Draw a picture of the finished cookie on the other side of your recipe.

  • 5.

To practice measurement, make the cookies and taste test the recipes. Make a chart of favorites and reasons.
