Misty Mountains

Misty Mountains craft

Encourage higher-thinking skills with a Misty Mountains book. It hits all the high points in physical geography.

  • 1.

Have you noticed that as mountains get higher, the landscape, climate, and wildlife changes? Trees thin out toward the top and, on very high summits, snow and ice remain year-round.

  • 2.

Fold a piece of black construction paper in half to make a book cover. With Crayola® Crayons, draw mountain peaks rising nearly to the top of your book cover. Color in the landscape with tree lines and different layers of rock. Leave the tips, sides, and other areas open to create a snowline.

  • 3.

Spread newspaper over your work area. Use Crayola Paint Brushes to add blue and white Crayola Washable Kid's Paint to create snow-tipped mountains. Mix paints to create snow and shadows. Dry.

  • 4.

Fold several pieces of white paper inside the cover and ask an adult to staple together to form your book.
