Mouse House

Mouse House craft

Here's a whimsical and practical house for your computer mouse. Desk organizers make great gifts.

  • 1.

To create a resting place for your computer mouse, turn a recycled box upside down. Use Crayola® Scissors to cut a doorway, or use a box with a cutout, such as a recycled tissue box.

  • 2.

To make "columns" to hold taller items, cut a recycled paper-towel tube in half and cover with construction paper. Attach with Crayola School Glue. Glue the columns on both sides of the doorway.

  • 3.

If you wish, add ornate capitals to the tops of the columns for a formal effect (such as Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian capitals, from Greek architecture). Draw the capital designs on construction paper with Crayola Markers, cut out, and glue to the tops of the columns. Leave the tops open for storage.

  • 4.

Draw windows on the fronts of two self-stick pads. Place the pads on the front of your Mouse House, beside the columns.

  • 5.

Draw plants and shrubs on construction paper to landscape your mouse house. Cut out. Glue plants in place.

  • 6.

To make a thatched roof, layer small self-stick notes on the top of the box, or cut construction paper. Add lines for a straw effect if you wish. Add a chimney (to hold paper clips) made of a small slice of covered paper-towel tube for a homey effect.

  • 7.

Park your computer mouse in its finished house for a creative and functional computer accessory.
