Make a keepsake birthday bag with a pillowcase. Gather your guests’ gifts inside and guess what they are as you pull out the presents!
1.
Long after your party is over, you’ll remember the good times with this unique party present bag. Color transfers best on pillowcases that are 100% polyester. Each guest could do a design, or you could make the bag ahead of time. For large pillowcases, make designs on several different sheets of paper.
2.
On white paper, sketch birthday designs with Crayola® Erasable Colored Pencils. Remember, designs transfer in reverse. Color them with Crayola Fabric Crayons. Press hard so colors are bright. To write letters backwards, draw them on white paper with a black Crayola Washable Marker. Turn the paper over and fill the letters with color. Brush away any crayon flecks.
3.
Choose a safe, large, flat location to iron. Make a bed of newspaper. Cover the newspaper with white paper. Place the pillowcase on the plain paper. Lay your colored design face down on the pillowcase. Cover with more white paper.
4.
Ask an adult to do this step: Set an iron on cotton, with no steam, and preheat it. Press design with slow steady pressure for 1 to 2 minutes. Lift iron to move it. Hold paper in place to prevent blurring. Remove paper carefully. Cool.
5.
After the party bag is filled with gifts, you could tie it at the top with a pretty ribbon! When the party is over, you’ll have sweet dreams about your good times for years.
