Nature Collections Collage

Nature Collections Collage lesson plan

  • 1.

Provide children with recycled bags to collect safe, fallen plant materials on a nature walk.

  • 2.

Help children choose categories for their materials (such as colors; prickly, smooth). Label boxes with words and pictures.

  • 3.

Invite children to describe their materials and design. Note children's vocabulary and skills for future planning.

  • 4.

On a nature walk, put leaves, seed pods, and other safe, interesting things in a recycled bag.

  • 5.

What is the same and different about these items? Sort them into two or three groups.

  • 6.

On a paper plate or construction paper, write your name with Crayola® Washable Markers.

  • 7.

Create an artful design with the natural materials. Cut stems or pieces with Crayola® Scissors. Use Crayola® School Glue to attach items.
