Can Do lesson plan

Affirm self-image and visualize success by creating original artwork showing the achievement of personal goals.

  • 1.

In your journal or on other paper, list several of your goals or dreams using Crayola® Markers. Picture in your mind successfully completing your goal. Where would you be? How old would you be? What would you look like? Who would be with you?

  • 2.

Draw a marker portrait of yourself, including a thought bubble. In the thought bubble, draw yourself attaining one of your goals. What would you be doing? How would you feel?

  • 3.

Use Crayola Crayons to fill in the spaces in your drawing.

Benefits

  • Students set goals for achievement.
  • Students build self-images by visualizing themselves achieving goals.
  • Students create original artwork to portray themselves in their visualizations of success.

Adaptations

  • Write a play or story about achieving your goal. Each part of the process is a scene or chapter: set goal, visualize achievement, prepare and practice, overcome hurdles, realize success.
  • Use a similar visualization process to solve other problems by identifying the steps you need to solve them.
  • Make a card for a friend or a family member who is working to complete a task. On the outside, draw the person achieving success. Inside, write words of encouragement. Give the card to the person to wish them well.
