Bits & Pieces Bird Bank

Bits & Pieces Bird Bank craft

This colorful, chirpy bird bank is such feathery fun to make. Recycle a container and you’ll save two ways!

  • 1.

Choose a clean container with a lid, such as an oatmeal box or snack cylinder, to make your feathery bird bank. Fold four pieces of paper in half and unfold. Using Crayola® Bold Markers, color each section. Carefully tear the paper into small shapes.

  • 2.

Starting low on your container, spread Crayola School Glue with a cotton swab. Attach your pieces in overlapping rows from the bottom up. Use your colorful imagination! Cover the entire container, including the lid.

  • 3.

To make a beak and eyes, color one large diamond, two medium circles, and two small circles on construction paper. Carefully tear out the pieces. Color the other side of the diamond. Fold it in half for a pointy beak. Glue the smaller circles inside the medium circles for eyes. Glue on the eyes and beak.

  • 4.

Draw and color paper tail feathers. Tear them out, turn them over, and color the other sides. Carefully tear little slits around their outer edges to make them look ruffled. Fan out the tail feathers and glue them to the bank. Air-dry the glue.

Have an adult cut a slot on the top of the lid so you can start saving your pennies!
