Shake, Roll, Move! Board Game

Shake, Roll, Move! Board Game craft

It’s your move—to invent a game! Shake, roll, and move game pieces. Deal cards. Race! Play solitaire or invite your friends. The choices are all yours.

  • 1.

Choose a game! You can turn any idea into almost any type of game: board, race, career, word, tile, card, social, math, and arrangement games. Decide what type of game you want to create. With Crayola® Erasable Colored Pencils, write down the game’s object, rules, and strategies. If you change your mind, just erase! Here are a few ideas to get you started with a board game.

  • 2.

Draw the board. On recycled file folders (taped together) or oaktag, outline your game board in colored pencil. Make a path with blocks, stepping stones, or other shapes. You’ll probably want to add shortcuts and bonuses, such as "take an extra roll" or "go back 2 spaces." Decorate the board with Crayola Markers.

  • 3.

How and what to move? Will a spinner, number cube, cards, or other method determine moves? Do players need play money or props? Cut them out of recycled file folders. You can use Crayola Model Magic to make number cubes. Create game pieces with Model Magic, too. Air-dry the Model Magic and you’re ready to play!
